Goethe-Zertifikat A1 (Start German 1) Exam Schedule

Locations
The Exam Schedule lists locations where DEP conducts operator certification exams. Check out the individual exam pages for more details regarding exam content, exam terms and conditions, and other guidelines. If you require special accommodations due to chronic illness or hearing or visual impairment, contact the exam provider directly and be sure to submit a thorough documentation when you register.
The Faculty Dashboard in Workday includes a "View My Teaching Schedule" which lets faculty find their exam schedules. Additionally, the Registrar's Office has a list of exam times for courses that have exams required by NYSED regulations. Final exams for evening classes are scheduled during the regular class meeting times of the final exams.

Registration

Exam locations will do their best to accommodate those who have special needs. The nature and severity of these needs must be noted on the registration form and verified by a doctor's attestation. The locations for the exam must adhere to confidentiality.
If a student has three examinations scheduled for the same day, it is recommended to contact their department or instructor to arrange an alternate exam. It is possible to take three exams on the same day. However, this could cause a lot of stress and affect the quality of the exam. In addition, the professor might not be able conduct a makeup test on a different day.
Before taking the exam Students must prepare for the exam by reviewing their study material and practice their German skills. The exam is a paper-based test which measures the ability to read, speak and write in German. The exam results are presented on a scale from A1 to C2. Students who succeed in passing the test are awarded a Goethe-Zertifikat. The certificate confirms that the student has attained language level A1. This level is the first level of the six-level scale of competency set out in the Common European Framework of Reference for Foreign Languages. The exam is free of cost. Students must carry an ID that is valid for government purposes to the exam. If they do not present an ID with a valid photo will be disqualified from the examination.
Fees
If you have completed your studies at Elan Academy and wish to receive the Goethe-Zertifikat A1 (start German 1), you must pay the examination fee. This is in addition to the cost of the course.
Practice tests allow you to get a feel for the style of the questions, their wording, and the difficulty of the questions on the test. They help you evaluate your proficiency, identify gaps in knowledge and improve your chances of passing the exam.
